Dr. Bronner’s (Vista, CA), natural soap brand manufacturer, marks the 10th Anniversary of its philanthropy program to end the exploitation and suffering of animals for food. The program began in 2013.
By the end of 2023, Dr. Bronner’s contributed more than $4.3 million to organizations working to end animal cruelty while upholding social and environmental justice, the company said. Some of the many recipients include Animal Outlook, Black Veg Society, Farm Forward, VINE Sanctuary, Sea Shepherd Global and Sistah Vegan Project. In 2023 alone, the company donated $300,000.
Some of the many advocacy programs funded by Dr. Bronner’s include raising awareness, industry accountability, grassroots action, promoting plant-based lifestyles and thought leadership.
Undercover investigations and public education campaigns expose the impacts of factory farming, one of the biggest advocacy points. “Humane washing” and other misinformation downplay the level of cruelty, Dr. Bronner’s said. The company is also engaged in wildlife conservation, animal sanctuaries and food ethics.
“Over the last decade, the animal advocacy movement has significantly elevated awareness of the role animal agriculture plays in human-caused climate change and has exposed egregious animal and human rights abuses in confined animal feeding operations, while changing laws and policy to improve the treatment of animals as well as confronting barriers to access of plant-based foods,” said David Bronner, the cosmic engagement officer of Dr. Bronner’s.
