The make-it-or-break-it aspect of wearing a cape is the way it fits and falls on your body. And cape sizing isn’t an exact science, but there are a few considerations you should make before clicking “purchase.” Here are a few tips to help you find the right plus size fall cape for you:
- LENGTH: As a short and curvy babe, I have found that some capes drown me in fabric — they’re just too long! This is a totally normal problem for a short person to have, albeit an annoying one. If you find yourself in this predicament, you can either focus on petite plus size fall capes — or take your too-long cape to your local tailor for shortening!
- CARE INSTRUCTIONS: A good number of plus size fall capes have faux fur or other dramatic (and fun!) features that make them dry clean only. When looking for a cape for myself, I usually look for faux fur or detachable features to make care more manageable. And trust me when I say you do NOT want to wash faux fur in your regular washing machine!
