US says Russia has forced thousands of Ukrainians from their homes and into so-called ‘filtration camps’

Russian forces have abducted 1000’s of Ukrainians from their properties and despatched them to so-termed “filtration camps,” a prime US official mentioned on Thursday.

“At minimum various thousand” Ukrainians have been kidnapped and processed in the camps, said Michael Carpenter, US ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), in remarks to the agency’s long term council in Vienna.

The “filtration camps” are becoming employed by Russian troops to interrogate Ukrainian civilians for any federal government or military services ties, Carpenter said, introducing that some detainees reportedly had their phones confiscated and searched for any indications of opposition to President Vladimir Putin’s ongoing war.

“Russia’s troopers are forcibly relocating civilians, whose residences, cities, and cities have been mercilessly barraged for months with shells, missiles, and bombs, to Russia — the really country resulting in all the needless struggling,” Carpenter explained.

Carpenter also stated “tens of countless numbers” of Ukrainians have been kidnapped and sent to Russia or Russian-controlled territory — statements Ukrainian officials have created for months now.
