I am mostly a Costco shopper but I started going to Sam’s awhile back and a few things I really like about Sam’s:
- Ease of getting gas. Prices are at $6 in California and Costco and Sam’s both have the same price which can be as much as $1 cheaper per gallon than other stations. The Costco gas area is constantly a mess but Sam’s seems to be much easier to get in and out of.
- Ease of checkout. My absolute favorite thing at Sam’s is that I can pull up the app as I shop, scan items when I put them in my cart and once I am done, click on payment and I don’t have to wait in line to checkout. So fast and efficient and I can keep a running tally on my bill to save the sticker shock I always get when checking out at Costco.
- Merchandise. There are lots of different food items and household items and clothing at both stores so it is fun to have the extra selection from Sam’s. I do regularly buy a product that is often sold out at Costco (Fairlife Shakes) and I can go online and see if Sam’s has it in stock.
- Payment. Costco is so limited on payment methods- if you like to use a credit card for points etc.. you can pay using any card at Sam’s. Not just debit and Amex.
