Man arrested after reportedly stabbing two people in Kenosha

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on two counts of attempted homicide after he reportedly stabbed two people at a home on the city’s north side early Friday.

A 20-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were found with multiple stab wounds when authorities and paramedics were called to a home in the 2200 block of 24th Street at 2:17 a.m. Friday, according to Capt. Tim Schaal of the Kenosha Police Department.

The man had been stabbed in the left side of his abdomen, around his neck and his hands, Schaal said Sunday. The woman had wounds to her face and neck. An 11-month-old baby was also in the home at the time of the incident was not injured.

Kenosha Fire Department rescue personnel took the victims to a local hospital where they were treated for their injuries, which were described by Schaal as not life-threatening.

Police officers initially went to the home for a weapons call, Schaal said.

“The female caller at that address stated that her boyfriend had stabbed her. Officers arrived quickly and they were able to make entry into the house and were able to detain the male suspect,” he said.

Officers at the scene collected evidence that included a “box-cutter style” knife allegedly used by the suspect. The older man had reportedly intervened in an attempt to stop the suspect from injuring the woman, according to Schaal.

Schaal said the man reportedly said he had planned to kill the family, according to statement made to officers.

“He had actually been planning the attack and had the intent to kill the entire family for how he believed they were treating him,” he said. “He believed that they were mistreating him in some way.”
