Katie & Drake || Crimson Lane Venue

Drake and Katie had the most beautiful wedding day. The weather was one of the last lovely days of the season and perfect for their outdoor ceremony. Katie’s Dad handmade the stands and lanterns for the centerpieces, and Katie and her Mom did all the florals. All the décor was done by them and turned out beautifully. Katie had chosen a deep eggplant purple, dusty lavender, light pink, and navy, which blended so nicely! The morning started with the girls setting up the venue and getting ready while the guys went for breakfast in their hometown. Katie may be biased, but she had the most helpful and supportive people with her as they prepared for the day.

When all the girls were ready and outside, Katie began getting into her dream dress with help from her mom and her best friend’s mom. Katie’s best friend passed away from cancer when they were 19, so having her mom there with Katie for these moments is extra special. This dress was so unique to her. Katie had searched for this dress for months, traveling hundreds of miles for it, and the day was finally here to show it off. They went outside to do their first looks, and the first tears were shed on the day. Katie’s Dad was not one to cry or shed a tear, but it was instant waterworks the second he turned around. The following first look was a setup between Drake and his best man in a wedding dress… Tears turned to hysterical laughter within seconds. It was almost time to get lined up and walk down the aisle, but there was still time to get in one last dance session with the girls while they waited. Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the USA” is a classic for these moments! And then it was time.

The guests were there, the quartet was playing, and the bridal party had started making its way down the aisle. Quickly, after 12 groups of bridesmaids and groomsmen, it was time for the ring bearers to head down. Drake and Katie have a 2-year-old son together, and there is nothing cuter than a toddler in a tuxedo! Next were the flower girls; one was Drake’s cousin, and the other was Katie’s 92-year-old grandmother. Having her as her flower girl that day will forever be one of Katie’s favorite memories. Now it was down to Katie and her Dad. The dress was fluffed, and the tears instantly flowed as Katie reached Drake’s sight. It felt like it took forever to get to the altar, but everything was natural and comfortable as soon as Katie arrived. Later in the night, they had their first dance, and halfway through, their son came out on the floor with them and finished the dance with them, which caused quite a few people to cry. And then it was time to party! Katie and Drake completed the night with a dreamy sparkler exit!
