From Serena Williams to Kylie Jenner, Here Are All the Moms Who Brought Their Kids to the Met Gala 2023

Mom was the word at the Met Gala 2023—just ask Serena Williams. The greatest athlete of all time showed up to the red carpet with a special surprise announcement: her second pregnancy. “There’s three of us here,” Williams said with a smile during Vogue‘s Gala livestream, standing next to her husband, Alexis Ohanian.

Just a few weeks before Mother’s Day, the 2023 Met Gala red carpet was a bevy of mother-and-child celebrity duos making the high-profile fundraiser event a family affair; Williams wasn’t the only star to announce her pregnancy on the red carpet. Below, check out some of the best dressed mommy-and-me pairings from the 2023 Met Gala.

Kate and Lila Moss

The supermodel and her 20-year-old mini-me model daughter attended the Met Gala in coordinating pale peachy pink Fendi looks designed by Kim Jones. Kate wore a slip dress with sheer sleeves and her signature messy waves, while Lila wore a feathered apricot midi dress with a sheer beaded midsection. This was the pair’s second Met as a duo; they attended the 2022 Gala wearing Burberry, befitting their British roots.

Erykah Badu and Puma Curry

Musician Badu brought her daughter, 18-year-old Puma Curry, as her date. Badu wore a white long-sleeve Marni gown with a matching headpiece that completely covered her face, whereas Curry went in the complete opposite direction in a Josephine Baker–inspired jeweled bikini, ’20s-style headpiece, and a fluffy fur wrap. While talking to host La La Anthony on the carpet, Badu revealed that this was Curry’s first ever Met Gala.

Anna Wintour and Bee Carrozzini

The boss lady of the Met Gala, Vogue global editorial director Anna Wintour herself, arrived on the red carpet with actor Bill Nighy on her arm. Though they didn’t get to snap a photo together, Wintour’s daughter Bee Carrozzini was also in attendance. Carrozzini arrived with her husband Francesco, wearing a pale pink tulle gown with a black bodice and a black sequined jacket layered over. Wintour, who hosted the event alongside co-chairs Dua Lipa, Roger Federer, Michaela Coel, and Penélope Cruz, wore a Chanel coat over a white column skirt.

Stormi Webster and Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian and North West

The sisters didn’t actually take their young daughters as their dates, given that the Met Gala is an adults-only event, but Stormi Webster and North West did escort their moms to the carpet. Stormi was snapped with mom Kylie Jenner en route to the gala wearing a cute denim outfit alongside Jenner’s red and blue Haider Ackermann robe and gown, and North wore a Chanel jacket when she accompanied Kim Kardashian for the trip from their hotel to the museum. We can’t wait until Stormi and North make their Met Gala debut in a few years.

The tennis legend announced her second pregnancy on the red carpet at this year’s Gala, debuting her bump in a black-and-white Gucci look, posing with husband Alexis Ohanian. “I’m good, I’m feeling good now,” Williams said after making her surprise announcement. “I can breathe, I can stop–not hiding, but….” Can you imagine attending the Met Gala before you’re even born? Iconic.

The supermodel also announced her second pregnancy at this year’s Met Gala, wearing a fitted Loewe dress inspired by an ’80s Chanel design. We are almost positive her child will be a future style star too.
