We’ve arrived a little early for the Verdavainne invitation only Spring/Summer 2024 couture runway show. The presentation will be located at the exclusive Cipriani West, a New York landmark and a stunning example of Greek revival architecture. Let’s explore lower Manhattan and the Financial District together before the show.

Looking down Broadway from Wall Street we are drawn by a glorious sight. In 1697 on behalf of King William III the first Trinity Church was erected at the head of Wall Street facing the Hudson River. The building was the first Anglican Church on the island of Manhattan. George Washington was inaugurated as the first President of the United States on April 30, 1789 at Federal Hall. After the ceremony, he attended a service at St. Paul’s Chapel of Trinity Church.

The famous New York Stock Exchange was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1978 and is now a photo-op for tourists.

We’re still a little early for the show, so let’s pop into Tiffany & Co., just a few doors down from Cipriani’s and see what delicious baubles they have on display. Monique, charming and helpful client advisor, was ready to assist. The world-renowned jewelry store is housed within a magnificent Beaux Arts building, although a few of the famous Tiffany crystal vases with sprays of flowers sprinkled around the space would add a touch of color and a bit of romance to the décor. And isn’t the purchase of diamond jewelry all about romance?
