Crochet Hat Patterns for the Cold Weather

Crochet Hat Patterns for the Cold Weather

Brrr!  This, at least for us in the northern hemisphere, is a cold month. So this feature has a double function – keeping our noggins warm AND happily crafting away in the warm. I have chosen both beaded and non-beaded crochet hats.  You can certainly add beads, enamel pins or even bead embroidered brooches if you want! I’ve come across so many wonderful patterns too numerous to write about, but here are a few.

Shown above is the heart beaded crochet beanie pattern by Michelle of  HookedbyHoltby. She makes lovely patterns. Another one I love from her collection is this multi-colored beauty . Fun Canadianism : We also call beanies, tuques!

This beaded cloche hat uses 6/0 beads in geometric patterns!  The designer is Ann of AnnBensonBeading. She also has terrific beaded jewelry tutorials and kits in her collection. I featured her a while ago here

Newsboy caps are my favorite hats to make and wear especially if the crown is generously sized so it doesn’t flatten down my hair!  I bought this gorgeous pattern below by Diane of pixiebell and it turned out well. You can also sew on buttons rather than use a buckle.  I bought the silicone mold for making buttons (see my tutorial) specifically so I could custom the color of the buttons to compliment my hats.

Cloche hats certainly have that 1920’s and Downton Abbey vibe!  This stylish cloche hat pattern is by Janina of crochetmamaNR1.

Another pattern by Janine is this elegant two tone cloche hat :

This Valkyrie or Thor crochet hat is so much fun! Plus it keeps the ears warm. The pattern comes in 5 sizes from children to adult. The designer is Jim of PatternsJolie.  His amazingly fun collection includes a King Tut headdress and even a hat in the shape of a Roman soldier’s parade helmet,.
