While we have photographed tons of weddings at the Crane Estate, this was our first Crane Barn wedding. This rustic venue is steeped in charm and sits at the bottom of Castle Hill in Ipswich, MA. Stucco outbuildings with blue ceramic tile roofs line this property, making it feel like you’ve been transported to an Italian villa.
There are several location options for a Crane Barn wedding ceremony. Kim and Joe chose to say their vows in the upper field overlooking the surrounding salt marshes and tidal rivers. After the ceremony we found some gorgeous portrait locations with fall colors. Guests mingled and had cocktails behind the reception barn. At dusk, everyone was invited into the barn for dinner and dancing!
One of our favorite things about this wedding was the “book” theme! Kim and Joe chose books from their childhood to adulthood that held special meaning to them. They used the books as centerpieces with flowers and table numbers. They also used a book theme for their guest book. I loved looking at all of the titles, and of course, so many books brought back wonderful memories for me! Scroll down to see all of our favorite photos from this Crane Barn wedding in September…
Things we love about the Crane Barn wedding venue:
• Tons of great spots for photos, all in very close proximity!
• An hour from Boston, making it an easy drive for wedding guests
• Adorable shops and great little restaurants in Ipswich if guests want to make a weekend of it!
