Since 2012, Swiss photographer Céline Weyermann has traveled around the globe to document enchanting wedding moments for over 200 couples. Upon visiting Panama, she was instantly captivated by the country’s unique charm. The presence of old and new, modern and rural, existed in perfect harmony.

Nowhere was this fusion more evident than in the enchanting district of Casco Viejo. Deemed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, the city’s age-old architecture, vibrant colors, and rich history permeated the air. She felt compelled to capture this magical place and share it with the world.

Then, fate intervened, and Céline came across the newly renovated Sofitel Legend Hotel in Casco Viejo.

Stepping inside, she marveled at the hotel’s beautiful architecture which melded history and modern elements seamlessly. It was a visual symphony of past and present, a testament to the enduring spirit of human creativity.

The ongoing rebuilding and renovations in Casco Viejo were akin to a love story. Just like any relationship that evolves over time, the district’s appearance underwent transformations. Yet, the core essence remained unshakable, just like deep and unconditional love.

It was this profound realization that sparked her creative vision.

Having photographed so many weddings all over the world, Céline admits the stories of her clients always melt her heart. “Sometimes it feels surreal that I am an honorary witness of so many strong connections,” says Céline, who believes these connections “are as strong as the old murals of Casco Viejo.”

Inspired by the undeniable spirit of Panama, Céline collaborated with the Sofitel Legend Hotel to create a gorgeous bridal editorial.

An homage to Casco Viejo, the shoot is a visual masterpiece. Céline expertly plays with light and shadow to showcase the wedding gowns of Mona Rosa Panama and the architecture of the venue.

The stunning model of the shoot was former Miss Panama 2022, Cecilia del Carmen Medina. She brought grace, elegance, and a touch of local charm to every frame. The fusion of her radiance and the hotel’s timeless beauty resulted in a series of captivating images that truly reflect the magic of Panama.
