It may not have taken them 20 years to get their acts together like Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, but it looks like Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk have found their way back to one another.
Cooper and Shayk were first linked romantically in April 2015 and welcomed their daughter, Lea de Seine, in March 2017. For practically the entirety of the couple’s relationship, the pair kept their business out of the press…until Cooper’s press tour for A Star Is Born caused a lot of public scrutiny (his chemistry with Lady Gaga was just that good).
After splitting in 2019, the pair appeared to take to co-parenting with aplomb (though Shayk is not a fan of the term). However, by August 2022, things started to look a lot less platonic with a joint family vacation in a tropical location. Now it feels safe to assume the pair are back on.
Rekindled relationships are rare in Hollywood, but that’s what makes us root for them so hard—and we’re definitely rooting for Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk. Here’s a complete timeline of the couple’s relationship.
2015
April 2015: Cooper and Shayk are spotted at a performance of Finding Neverland on Broadway. Cooper is fresh out of a two-year relationship with model Suki Waterhouse, which ended in March, while Shayk split from soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo in January after five years together.
August 2015: the pair takes a romantic trip to Italy.
September 2015: Getting serious? In September, Shayk is photographed out and about with Cooper’s mom, Gloria Campano.

July 2016: Rumors of a rift between the pair spark after photos and video of an alleged Wimbledon fight go viral. However, TMZ later reports that the public got all worked up over a simple pollen allergy.

November 2016: People reports that Shayk is pregnant with the couple’s first baby! It’s also revealed that Shayk walked in the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show while in her second trimester.

2017
March 2017: Shayk and Cooper welcome their daughter Lea De Seine Shayk Cooper on March 21.
2018-2019
May 2018: The parents attend yet another Met Gala. This time, the theme is Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination.

August 2018: Cooper and Shayk bring their daughter to the Venice Film Festival to debut his film, A Star Is Born, which Cooper directed and starred in alongside Lady Gaga. “Having a child, and having a family of my own—which is a miracle and something I’ve always dreamt of—has opened me up even more, I guess, to the day, and to be present,” Cooper later tells NPR
October 2018—January 2019: Here’s where things get rocky. Though Shayk and Cooper make all the necessary red carpet and event appearances together, the world is getting extremely invested in Cooper’s on-screen chemistry with Gaga. However, that doesn’t seem to be the only problem. “They are miserable together,” a source told Page Six in October 2018. “They have been for months. He doesn’t drink and is into spirituality. She wants to go out.”

February 2019: Things only get worse leading up to the Academy Awards, where A Star Is Born has racked up multiple nominations for Cooper and Gaga, including best actor, best actress, best original song, and best picture. First, Lady Gaga splits from then-fiancé, Christian Carino, after two years together, which only adds fuel to the fire. Then comes Cooper and Gaga’s performance of “Shallow” at the Oscars…
Shayk’s presence at the event does nothing to dissuade romance rumors but Gaga says they were just doing their jobs! “Social media, quite frankly, is the toilet of the Internet. And what it has done to pop culture is just, like, abysmal,” Gaga tells Jimmy Kimmell following the performance.
“Yes, people saw love, and guess what? That’s what we wanted you to see,” Gaga continues. “[Shallow] is a love song; A Star Is Born is a love story. It was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time…. When you’re singing love songs, that’s what you want people to feel.”

April 2019: People reports that Cooper is “all about family” following awards season. “Since the awards season ended, Bradley spends every day with his family,” a source tells the publication. “Most days, Bradley and Irina take Lea out for activities together. Sometimes they just stroll on the beach. Bradley and Irina seem great.” The source also notes that Cooper and Gaga are not spending any time together.
June 2019: the couple officially breaks up after four years, though reports vary over who called things off. An unnamed source told Entertainment Tonight that Shayk wanted to split during A Star Is Born‘s release, but was reportedly “advised against it.”
“Recently, Irina decided enough is enough. She didn’t feel she was getting the level of commitment she wanted, and the endless fighting made their life unbearable,” the source tells ET. “They are very different people, and once they realized it was the baby that was holding them together, it was time to call it quits.”
The source adds, “Some of their friends feel they never truly got a chance to know each other outside of being a family, and it was just all too much too fast.”
2020
January 2020: Shayk gets candid about life post-Cooper. “Life after Bradley is definitely reflective, and I think in all good relationships you bring your best and your worst – it’s just the nature of a human being,” she tells British Vogue. “Two great people don’t have to make a good couple. I think we’ve been very lucky to experience what we had with each other. Life without B is new ground.”
She also explains why she hates the term “co-parenting” so much. “I always say, ‘What is co-parenting?’ Co-parenting people say, ‘Oh, you know, it’s 50/50.’ But I’m not 50% of a mom, I’m 100%. And he’s 100% of a dad,” she says. “So I don’t see that as co-parenting. Sometimes, when I say to myself, ‘Wow, I’m a single mom,’ it can sound a little scary. But it’s doable, and I think women can really handle a lot of things. I’ve never had a male figure who came into my life and took care of me. Never.”
March 2020: She reiterates her frustration with the term in an interview with Elle. “I never understood the term ‘co-parenting,’” she told Elle in a new profile. “When I’m with my daughter, I’m 100% a mother, and when she’s with her dad, he’s 100% her dad. Coparenting is parenting.”
2021
June 2021: Shayk is reportedly dating Kanye West—and Cooper is supportive! “Bradley would be fully supportive of whoever Irina chooses to date — he just wants her to be happy,” a source tells Us Weekly. “Bradley and Irina are not just on good terms as co-parents, they’re also close as friends and share personal things with each other.”
Over a week after Shayk was spotted in Paris with West, the former couple is photographed near the model’s NYC apartment.

August 2021: West and Shayk call it quits, according to People. On August 21, a source told the publication that “it was never a serious thing that took off.”
September 2021: Shayk praises Cooper’s parenting style in an interview with Highsnobiety’s HighStyle. “He’s a full-on, hands-on dad—no nanny,” she says. “Lea went on holiday with him for almost two weeks—I didn’t call them once.”
2022
August 2022: Shayk ignites rumors that the former couple rekindled their relationship when she posts photos from a tropical family vacation. Peep slide three.
“It was a real family getaway and they are considering getting back together,” a source tells Page Six. “Irina would like her daughter to have a sibling.”
October 2022: The Daily Mail reports that Shayk and Cooper took their daughter trick-or-treating on Halloween, with Cooper dressed in a bear costume. Now check out these photos Shayk posted from a Halloween party…
November 2022: On Monday, November 7, Shayk and Cooper are spotted walking their dogs together in New York City. At some point on the walk, per People, the exes put their arms around each other. A source close to Shayk tells the outlet that Shayk and Cooper “have both been single and started hanging out more together” and that “Irina is very happy to spend time with Bradley. She very much loves him.”
“Irina loves watching Bradley with their daughter. He is a wonderful dad,” the source adds. “She would like for them to be back together.” Regarding Shayk’s reported wish for another baby, another source tells Page Six, “He is on board to expand their family. They are trying to get pregnant.”
