An invitation suite is one of the first sneak peeks at your wedding day design, colors, and overall vibe that your guests will see. Not only do your invitations give your guests all of the details they’ll need to prepare for your wedding weekend – including your ceremony start time, the address of the venue, information on any other weekend activities you’re hosting, and most likely a link to your wedding website – but they also can encapsulate the entire feel of the wedding, from traditional format letterpress to modern, colorful and bold paper goods. We compiled our very favorite invitations from the entire 2023 wedding year to show off the ways Rocky Mountain couples got creative well before the big day. One: A Personal Party in the Mountains
Brittany & Max’s wedding day was an intimate affair with a neutral palette, and their invitations reflected that perfectly. We love the unique touch of a textured mountain top holding the main invitation, giving out of town guests a little taste of the mountains, and making them aware that the wedding day’s design would probably play on the western, mountain feel a little bit. The added personal touch of printed welcome bags & luggage tags for guests who travelled in helped them prepare for the adventure that awaited them at B&M’s Park City wedding. Two: Bold in B&W
Black and white never goes out of style. Our Jonrah Events put together a modern B&W styled styled shoot in Alberta with an invitation suite to match. Pink Umbrella Designs utilized block fonts and bold backgrounds (with a sultry solid black envelope liner!), making a more traditional, simple paper style more modern and moody. Three: Something Very Blue
Brittany & Cameron hosted a luxurious and whimsical summertime wedding that was bursting with blooms in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Their ranch venue was transformed into a floral paradise, radiating charm and extravagance, and guests got a sneak peek at the design with this floral-filled invitation suite. The invitation suite had the perfect blend of luxury – with formal calligraphy fonts, a wedding seal, and a bow to tie it together – and nature’s beauty – with soft blue paper, tree design cutouts, and watercolor flowers on the envelope liner. Four: Elegant Mountain Ambiance
Spenser & Chris sought out sophisticated mountain elegance for their Colorado wedding, and these cute invitations by Velvet Fox Designs helped create that ambiance all the more. We love the small, simple mountain sketch and the sage green envelope – giving summertime Rocky Mountain colors with a softer, more formal feel from the blue hues, fonts and invitation border. Five: Chanel at the Chateau
This styled shoot at Stein Eriksen Lodge (led by Dawne Events) strived to channel “Chanel at the Chateau” with yellow & gold hues mixed with classic black and white details. We love this invitation suite because it shows just how much texture and shape can help show off the style of the wedding design & location. The paper cutouts in a Rocky Mountain design, alongside the deckled natural edge of the invitation, reflect the layered, terracotta look of the Utah terrain. Six: Wild for Weddings
Mo & Jo’s Montana invitation suite made big moves up our favorites list. We are obsessed with all of the little mountain wildlife sketches throughout each insert and the envelope liner. Everything matched without being identical, and each item brought in different things (animals, vegetables, skiis) that the couple loves. Seven: Rich in Love
The Canadian Rockies met European elegance in this romantic styled shoot at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton, Alberta. This sophisticated elopement inspiration designed by Rebekah Brontë Designs incorporated a rich and ravishing color palette full of berry tones that made for stunning flatlays! Eight: Handmade with Heart
Bride Hayley had years of wedding planning experience under her belt before she got engaged, so she knew exactly how to put together a beautiful event. She worked with Debbie Wong Design to create a soft and refined invitation suite, complete with calligraphed initials within a floral wreath, handmade paper, vintage stamps, and raw-edge silk ribbon. We love the elegant touch of a muted floral envelope liner and the dainty map of their wedding weekend in Vancouver. Nine: Whimsical Chic Watercolor
Heather and David had a three-day weekend celebration with 240 guests in Colorado Springs and needed an invitation suite big enough to cover it all! The fiesta-themed rehearsal dinner card had little watercolor tacos in the style that matched the watercolor sketch on the main invite of their beautiful venue, The Broadmoor. They couple opted for an ivory and French blue color palette with a toile-style liner (which matched Heather’s bridesmaids’ dresses!) adding to the French feel. Ten: Garden Party Paper Goods
Adele & Derek said “I Do” in Wanship, Utah, but first, the pair sent out the prettiest letterpress garden-party inspired invitation suite. In this case, more IS more – we love that the couple didn’t hold back on incorporating bright colors (the chartreuse liner is so cute!) and extra details like a wooden & leather bellyband and teal wax seal. Eleven: Cool Colors in Canada
Elly & Mark’s dainty floral details and simple, small serif fonts made for a clean invitation suite. The deckled edge of the paper added some texture that elevated the design without going over the top, and the light blue wax seals add the prettiest soft pop of color.

Twelve: Elopement Inspiration
Elopements can have stationery too! If you’re planning to elope, consider sending out announcements to your closest friends and family to let them know the details of your special day so they can celebrate you from afar. This quintissentially-Aspen styled shoot planned by Britt Jones Co. showed just how creative you can get without having an actual wedding. We especially love the pretty paper from Morgan Riley Design that pushed the boundaries using different shapes, stamps, and a juxtaposition of water color and elegance mixed with modern fonts & aesthetic. Thirteen: Colorful Colorado
Gracie & Tommy got to have a fun fall wedding in Evergreen, Colorado, and their invitation suite let guests know that lots of different colors, shapes, and good vibes were to be found on their wedding day. The couple knew they wanted the blank canvas of the evergreens to be able to create a whimsical, colorful aesthetic through their decor that felt personal and memorable. Fourteen: A Pink Party
This retro invitation designed by Beck Engraving Design Studio for a springtime styled shoot put together by La Fete Floral & Events fit the fun vibe of the event fully. The event was all about the “party” portion of the night, and the unique shapes and bold pink colors make it clear this was no traditional occasion. Fifteen: An Invitation with Illusion
Carly & Steven – with the help of Calluna Events – created a bold and sophisticated Colorado affair in downtown Denver. The eye catching, optical-illusion of an envelope liner paired with deep red hues proves that this was no simple event. The use of different shapes made this suite soar to the top of our favorites list, and you can see more of it here on S&C’s full wedding day blog.

Sixteen: Simple Springtime Stationery
In this case, less is more with simple white and grey stationery with clean lines and small wording. Rachel & Sundeep’s stationery actually contrasted their Colorado wedding day design, which had lots of different colors and flowers. Seventeen: Western Wildflowers
Laura & Richard’s formal letterpress invitations looked stunning with summertime blooms in a flat lay! Their Encampment, Wyoming wedding embodied a natural Western aesthetic with whimsical colors of late summer with wildflowers throughout – including on their matching envelope liner. Eighteen: Subtle Snowmass Chic
Calluna Events coordinated a Colorado styled shoot in Snowmass with a goal to not take away from the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, but rather seamlessly blend modern elegance with rustic charm. Knapp Design Co. created combinations of paper goods with soft neutrals, different textures and patterns, and cute little western details. Nineteen: Disco Details
Morgan & Keenan were married in Salt Late City in the fall, and they made sure everyone knew it was a party before they got there! Twenty: Classic in Colorado
Heidi & Zach got hitched in Telluride during the start of a beautiful fall, which they knew would be the case after spending a beautiful autumn weekend in the area a few years before when their love had just begun. We love H&Z’s soft, modern B&W invitation suite, with letterpress deckled edge vow books and vintage stamps to complete the classic look. Twenty-One: Southwestern Stationery
Funky Olive designed this suite to inspire couples hosting a Southwestern soirée, with a deep, rich hue of burnt orange contrasted against ivory. The terracotta envelope, sketch of the historic chapel, and torn edges of the paper gave every guest who opened this a glimpse at what a New Mexico wedding day will look like. Twenty-Two: Dusty Blue Designs
Richele & Nathan really nailed it with this sweet, soft, and special design for their stationery at their blue wedding in British Columbia. The invitation suite had meaningful wording, a card with the bride’s *new* name, and darling floral details to match the dusty blue palette.

Twenty-Three: Sunshine in Sun Valley
Sydney & Logan’s Sun Valley wedding day was full of sunshine – from the weather, to the warm yellow hues, to the sun details literally printed in their stationery. We love the informal wording of “See y’all in September!” on the invitation – fitting their personalities, the subtle western vibe of the wedding, and just keeping things cute! This custom invitation suite from Lotus & Ash has it all – from liners to letterpress to a map for the whole weekend – and you can see even more of it in our national issue from this year.

Twenty-Four: A Warm White Wedding
You can’t go wrong with all white wedding details, and Donna & Harley made sure their guests knew their neutral color scheme before the big day with these beautiful, simple suites. Plus all of the stationery matches the bride’s incredibly chic, stylish heels, so of course this one made our favorites list! Want more wedding white? Twenty-Five: Neutral in the North
Miranda & Max made their love official in Oak Bay in the summertime, and opted for a classic, yet modern version of a formal invitation to send to all of their favorite people to the big day. The sand colored envelope and wax seal were the perfect slight pop of color to add to a textured, white invitation. Plus, they filled their day with colorful flowers, so it looked just right having a neutral invitation suite to contrast the other day-of details.
