Review
I have been really enjoying this concealer. It has the most beautiful creamy and silky texture that you don’t normally expect from a stick concealer. It literally glides on to the skin like silk, and never looks heavy or cakey.
Although this claims to be a medium to full coverage concealer, I’d say it is sheerer than you’s expect it to be, but not in a bad way. I’d say this is a good medium, that applies in beautiful light layers, so that it always stays looking like skin.
The texture is so elegant, and blending this in is effortless. If you are looking to cover darkness, or irregular pigmentation, you may need a couple of layers, but it is so lovely and skin perfecting, even if you can see skin through, it still has a lovely flattering effect.
The Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Concealer in shade 1C0 Silk is a really good match for me. As I said, it applies directly from the stick in light layers, and I can blend with fingers or a small fluffy brush. Blending literally takes no work at all, so it is amazing to chuck in your handbag for touch ups on the go.
It has a lovely hydrating texture that give an immediate blurring and smoothing effect on the skin. I think this would be amazing on bare skin, if you wanted a no foundation day.
The Traceless Soft Matte Concealer is one of those concealers that I always feel like I need a bit more of. But having said that, it layers so well, and doesn’t settle into lines. I think that you will love it if you have dry skin.
I think it’s the ideal concealer to top up during the day because it never gets cakey, and it adds a lovely radiance which is amazing if your skin is starting to get a bit dehydrated as the day wears on.
How does the Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Concealer compare to the Cle de Peau Stick Concealer?
In terms of coverage, I find the Tom Ford doesn’t weigh in quite as well as my favourite stick concealer, the Cle de Peau Concealer Stick* in Ivory. The Cle de Peau delivers more instant coverage and still never gets cakey. If you have very dark circles, the Tom Ford may not be enough for you.
I think that the Tom Ford has more glow, and the Cle de Peau is very slightly more matte, which I think actually helps to add to how much it covers in one layer. They are both really easy to use, however, I think the Cle de Peau has a thicker consticency.
The Tom Ford is a bit more brightening and luminous, and I feel like I can benefit from a light layer of powder with the Tom Ford, whereas I think that the Cle de Peau sets itself, and doesn’t need to be set with powder.
Also, I think the Cle de Peau is the one to choose if you are trying to cover a spot, as I think the Tom Ford lacks the coverage and matte finish that you would need for that.
All in all, I really do enjoy this concealer, and it is staying in my makeup bag, and specifically in my handbag, for top ups. It doesn’t crease or settle into lines at all, which I think is fabulous. Also, I love the packaging. It just looks super chic and luxurious.
