2023 NCAA championship game live updates: UConn vs. San Diego State score, March Madness coverage, bracket

A national champion will be crowned in Division I men’s college basketball in Houston, Texas, on Monday night inside NRG Stadium as No. 4 seed UConn and No. 5 seed San Diego State meet in the NCAA championship game. All that stands between us and a new champion after 66 NCAA Tournament games across several weeks of play is 40 tension-filled minutes of basketball.

San Diego State played its way to its first national title game in school history after overcoming a 14-point, second-half deficit in the Final Four vs. FAU on Saturday, marking the fifth-largest comeback in Final Four history and its second consecutive one-point victory. UConn, as has been routine of late, flattened Miami in the Final Four by 13 — its fifth consecutive win of 13 or more points amid one of the most dominant runs in NCAA Tournament history.

While the path for both teams to reach the sport’s final game has been different, the playing field is wiped completely clean entering Monday night’s game. Throw out the style points, the records and the history. All that matters is which team plays better than the other for two full halves as we prepare to crown a new champ.
