Musical jewelry is always popular because many of us love music. There are also the professional musicians and last but not least, the people who teach this craft. So I was delighted when I came across the laser cut earrings designs by Kelly Parrish of RhythimicallyYours.
Kelly not only makes these delight laser cut earrings from either wood or acrylic, she also offers a lot of other products geared for the music classroom. These include really fun earrings such as the ukelele earrings shown above which were my favorite. Even small children will recognise the triangle instrument depicted in one of her designs.
Other items include musically inspired stickers, games, keychains, music room signs, decals and so forth to inspire not just the students but also the teachers.
I’m an elementary Kodaly educator teaching in a K-5 music classroom while also pursuing some of my other dreams (such as opening an Etsy store!). Teaching music and helping others teach music is a passion of mine. I also love to craft, sew and play around in Photoshop so combining these talents led me to opening my Etsy shop, Rhythmically Yours.
It’s a wonderful niche to be in especially since she is an experienced music teacher. Her shop certainly strikes the right note!

Musical Prodigies on Different Instruments
It takes a lot of effort, patience and teaching talent from instructors to educate young children in the art of playing musical instruments. They’ve got to make it fun and yet steer them on the right path otherwise, the children will just be turned off.
Watch this wonderful video about the incredible 2-year progress of a little Korean girl, YoEun Seol ,who started the violin before the age of 3. The commentary is by a pair of Australian professional violinists, Brett Yang and Eddie Chen, who host one of my favorite Youtube channels, TwoSetViolin. They are a musical comedy duo whose love for classical music is evident.
The video shows YoEun playing before the age of 4. She clearly has prodigious talent – a “Ling Ling” – an honorific term the duo call such amazing talent. But honor should also go to her teacher. You can clearly see how much this toddler enjoys playing, smiling upon occasion. At about 10 in 2022, she was already playing Paganini’s Caprice No.24! Niccolo Paganini (1782-1840) was the famous Italian violin virtuoso and composer whose ability to play very difficult pieces led people in his day to claim that he had a pact with the Devil!
Just a warning before seeing this TwoSetViolin video on musical prodigies on different instruments. Don’t watch it if you think your self-esteem will nose dive! These children are incredible.
