A richly colored celebration filled with personalized touches is exactly what you’ll find with Nicole and Troy’s elegant fall wedding at Bella Sera. From beginning to end, the day radiated with details that perfectly reflected the bride and groom, starting with a color palette based on Nicole’s favorite shades of purple. Dramatic eggplant bridesmaids dresses from Bridal Beginning, groomsmen in similarly hued ties, and lush florals including a mix of berry, magenta, and royal purple colors not only weaved the chosen palette into the day’s design, but was also stunning for that time of year. To balance the deep tones, the reception was filled with warmth and romance. Floating candles, purple infused signs from Written by Nikki, and sparkling, geometric linens from Mosaic dressed the tabletops, while a Bethel Bakery wedding cake with a geometric pattern and the day’s colors made a wow-worthy focal point. Customized cocktail napkins with fun facts about the pair plus cookies, signature cocktails, AND cake figurines honoring their beloved pups rounded out the purposeful details. There was no one better to capture the meaning behind each element and moment than Kristen Wynn Photography.
About the Couple
Like many modern love stories, ours began with a simple swipe right on Bumble. We matched on September 7, 2016 and quickly started talking. Troy loves telling everyone that I had to “make the first move” and message him first! On September 17, 2016, I let Troy make the plans and he picked… Dave & Busters. Admittedly, I thought it was the strangest pick for a first date and may have even tried to cancel once or twice. Troy was patient though and even showed up with flowers when we finally met that evening. The date was filled with great conversation, a lot of laughs, and a few Skee-Ball competitions. In 2019, we moved in together and started a new adventure fur parenting our pups, Roc and Mia.
On Sunday, November 3, 2019, we were in Disney World for our annual trip to the Food and Wine Festival with my parents, sister, and brother-in-law. We went to Magic Kingdom to start the day and Troy was super focused on getting to Cinderella’s Castle to get the pictures “out of the way”. As soon as we walked into the park, a parade and a dance party started up in front of the castle, resulting in about a million people crowding around. After about 30 minutes of waiting, and Troy pacing while becoming more and more anxious, the parade finally ended and we beelined it in front of the castle. Troy and I went to take our picture when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I quickly said “YES!” and we proceeded to have the best day and trip celebrating our engagement in the happiest place on Earth!
About the Wedding
From the very beginning, my focus was making sure that the whole day was really personal to us, looking and feeling like me and Troy. I tend to gravitate towards clean lines and geometric shapes in our design choices at home, so I decided that our look would be modern but warm and romantic. Anyone that knows me knows that purple is my favorite color, so our color palette was a simple decision, starting with a deep eggplant as the focal color, based on the gorgeous bridesmaids dresses we found at Bridal Beginning. The guys were in classic black tuxes (one of Troy’s requests was to look like James Bond) with the groomsmen in coordinating eggplant ties and vests. Leaning into the fall season, I rounded out the colors with burgundy and berry, choosing silver as an accent color. Our florist did an amazing job taking my color palette and translating it into absolutely gorgeous, dramatic florals for our big day!
We had a ton of fun finding ways to really personalize our wedding! Our two dogs, Roc and Mia, are very special to us so we found ways to include them: from their figurines on the wedding cake, to the signature drinks, to the photo booth props. Woodland Cookie Company made perfect custom monogram and dog sugar cookies that were an extra special touch to our cookie table. It wasn’t all about the pups though! We also had cocktail napkins with four different fun facts about us at the bars. We even heard from some guests that they learned something new about us at our reception!
Favorite Moment
The moment that we were each looking forward to the most and that was our favorite was our first dance. It was so special to us to come into our reception as husband and wife and share a dance surrounded by the most special people in our lives. I also really loved my “reveal” moments. Our photographer staged a perfect reveal with my dad with my mom and sister in the room, followed by one with my bridesmaids; the photos of those moments are priceless. Of course, I’ll never forget the moment when I finally saw my husband at the end of the (very long) aisle at Sacred Heart Church either!
