Both Florence “Ren” Robinson and Gregory Plumb have practically known each other since birth—their grandparents and mothers were friends—so when their paths directly crossed one summer at the local country club, the sparks that had always been there flew. Even so, it wasn’t until a few years later when Ren and Greg ran into each other in Nantucket that the pair officially started dating.
After seven years together, on the day after Thanksgiving, Greg proposed on a midmorning walk just outside Ren’s childhood home in Connecticut. Once she said, “Yes,” the two popped Champagne and celebrated amidst family, friends, and the dogs.
It only felt right that Ren and Greg would tie the knot where they first met in the Adirondacks. As far as wedding aesthetics, Ren leaned into the natural beauty of it all, coining a mountain wildflower theme that highlighted every picturesque outdoor scene. Paul Reynolds was on hand to capture it all on camera. Alongside a custom crest, Cheree Berry created a custom invitation suite reminiscent of the vibrant florals surrounding the property.
The bride-to-be turned to Over The Moon Styling when selecting her wedding wardrobe. Styling Director Kelly Russell Potts suggested looks for every event, based on the bride’s vision. She kicked off the weekend in Agua by Agua Bendita and Carolina Herrera for the welcome party and rehearsal dinner. As for the dress, Ren added a low back and extra train to a strapless Alena Leenato look and styled it with Loeffler Randall heels and Jennifer Behr earrings
Greg looked dapper in a classic black tux and the same floral suspenders he gifted to his groomsmen. Bridesmaids complemented in solid pink dresses differing in shade and style. “I told them to play with texture and they had a lot of fun with it,” Ren notes.
The days leading up to the ceremony highlight all of Ren and Greg’s favorite memories together in a place that holds so much meaning for both of their families. Dinner by the lake, a hike down an ever-so-familiar trail, and a tee time on the course detailed the weekend’s events.
On September 9, 2023, Ren topped her wedding look with a lace veil—a multi-generational family heirloom—and met Greg for an intimate first look. Table & Tulip wildflowers enhanced the aisle as the bride walked arm-in-arm with her father before a scenic mountainside landscape. “I felt very nervous to walk down the aisle, but I was very relaxed once I saw Greg. I was thankful to do a first look, so once I walked down the aisle, we were able to focus on the fun,” the bride says. Ren and Greg married in a traditional Episcopalian ceremony in which Ren’s godparents shared prayers and poems. With the “I dos” in order, the two sealed it all with a kiss before exiting amidst falling flower petals.
“Greg and I set aside a few minutes after the ceremony for just the two of us to have some Champagne before the craziness of the night began,” Ren shares. “Kelly helped me choose my Over The Moon monogrammed wedding date sweater to keep me warm.”
During the reception, the newlyweds shared a first dance to “Love Me Do” by The Beatles before sipping more Champagne and noshing on salmon. Ren and Greg cut their wedding cake—an ode to the bride’s mother—before heading out onto the dance floor.“Our wedding cake was a Zebra cake in honor of my mom, who always made me these for past birthdays,” the bride notes.
Ren featured a second look—a Nue Studio minidress—and The Sultans had the newlyweds on stage all evening—which delighted guests and only enhanced the celebratory mood. “Everyone had a blast cutting some rug,” the bride recalls. As the night came to a close guests lined the exit, lit sparklers, and cheered as the newlyweds made their way out. “The most incredible ending to the best weekend of our lives.”
