UV Digitally Printed Laser Cut Wood Jewelry Designs by MisfitMakes / The Beading Gem

Long time reader, Cally Ross, remarked recently on this post about STL files for making polymer clay cutters : “Wow! Technology has made a huge impact on crafting, hasn’t it?” Yes, indeed it has. And the results can be spectacular!

Many artistic jewelry makers love to hand paint on laser cut wood blanks (such as these new shield shapes from my store).  It is quite a challenge to paint on such tiny canvases.

However, UK designer, Bex Ling of MisfitMakes has laser cut wood jewelry which showcase her original and gorgeous artwork in great detail.

She explains :

All my designs start with hand drawn illustrations which are then digitally printed (using UV printers) direct onto FSC certified cherry wood and laser cut.
I polish up any brass elements and then assemble all the pieces in my home studio in Norwich, before wrapping them up in pretty parcels to ship around the world!

What is also commendable is her commitment to using eco-friendly recycled packaging. Her items are wrapped in soy printed tissue paper.

Some of my favorites from her collection are the moth necklace shown above as well as the hare and mixed emotion earrings.  She also very cleverly used the Georgian era (1714-1837) ‘s trend of wearing lockets with miniature paintings of secret lover’s eyes for her heart eye earrings.  See this past post : How Portrait Miniatures Were Painted | Lover’s Eye Lockets
