Jennifer Lopez Reveals The One Style Ben Affleck & Her Kids Hate to See Her Wear

Even fashion icons aren’t always appreciated. Jennifer Lopez knows this firsthand, as she has to deal with backlash whenever she wears a certain trend around her kids or her husband Ben Affleck.

Crop Tops ‘Forever!’

The “Can’t Get Enough” singer opened up about the controversial style choice in a new interview on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna. Host Hoda Kotb and J. Lo were playing a game called “This Is Me … Now or Then?” where Lopez had to answer if a topic described her now or in the past. “Wearing a crop top” was the topic in question, which Lopez answered, “Then … and now. And forever!”

“I think you might have one on right now,” Kotb joked.

J. Lo responded, “My kids are like, ‘Mom. The crop top.’” She gave a look recreating what her twins Emme and Max have given her, making Kotb laugh. “I’m like, ‘Yeah.’”

“They’re not digging it?” Kotb asked.

“No. They don’t dig it,” she confirmed. C’mon, guys! She’s Jennifer Lopez — she’s gonna wear a crop top. (And it’s going to look damn good on her, too!)

The twins, who turn 16 this month, do like one thing her mom is doing, though: her music! “They were at the movie the other day, and they loved it,” Lopez said with a smile, referring to the This Is Me … Now: A Love Story on Prime Video. “I think they loved it. One of them was crying. It was beautiful.”

The Mother star shared a similar sentiment about her kids in an appearance earlier this week on The View.  “So, when they heard this one, and they saw the movie just the other night at the premiere, they were, I think, really blown away,” Lopez shared about her new album, which came out today. “They were like, ‘Whoa. You did this? This is what you’ve been doing?’”

“And suddenly, you are all that,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said.

“Just for a second though,” Lopez responded. “Then, it’s right back to ‘Mom, don’t wear the crop top!’”

“Why not?” she jokingly added. (“Why not,” indeed — we say if you’ve got it, flaunt it!)

Ben Affleck’s Thoughts

Apparently, the Argo star isn’t a huge fan of the crop tops either. “He’ll joke with me sometimes … he’ll say things like, ‘Where’s the rest of the shirt?’ or things like that,” Lopez said in a May 2023 appearance on Live! With Kelly and Mark, per Page Six. “I’m like, ‘Oh, this one doesn’t have anything else.’”

Crop tops aside, though, the “On the Floor” singer cares deeply about what her kids and husband think. “I do things with really good intentions always. It’s all about love — the love I feel, what I want to express in the world, and the legacy I wish to leave behind,” she told Hello! Magazine in Sept. 2023. “I often think about how I want my kids and my husband to remember me.”

I don’t think she has anything to worry about on that front!
