We chatted with Tatum Chiniquy, owner of one of our absolute favorite bridal boutiques – Frankie Jane Couture in Orem, Utah (just north of Provo) – to show you how you can find your dream dress in just one stop! At Frankie Jane, your 90 minute appointment is an exclusive, one-on-one experience designed to give you privacy while shopping, a luxurious bridal day, and lasting memories with your favorite ladies. The store is spacious, bright, and beautiful – and full of unique couture, handmade dresses from 11 different designers, some of which only offer their gowns at Frankie Jane. Q&A with Frankie Jane Couture

Q: What is your favorite part about working in the wedding fashion industry?
A: Nothing beats getting our brides photos back after their wedding and seeing how happy they are. Knowing we got to be a part of making that happen and helping them find their dream dress is the most rewarding feeling. (Oh, and plus the fact that bridal market happens to be in New York every six months isn’t a bad part of the gig!)
Q: In your opinion, do you think there’s anything specific that sets Frankie Jane apart from the rest? Or something that just makes it extra special to you?
A: My mom and I opened Frankie Jane after going wedding dress shopping for my own wedding dress. My experience was good but we had a lot of ideas about how to make it better. When we opened we really wanted to take what we learned from that, the good and the bad, and improve the experience from there by applying our ideas. Most brides dream of wedding dress shopping from a young age, and we want to live up to that expectation. Our goal is to make every bride feel special and create an unforgettable experience. Along with that we have worked extremely hard to bring the best of the best designers to our store. For some of our designers, we are not only the only store in Utah to carry them, but the only store in the United States!
Q: Do you have a favorite gown or designer of all time?
Q: How far in advance do you recommend brides to start looking for their gown with y’all?
A: Ideally a year in advance. All of our gowns are handmade and with that comes time to create each custom gown. Some of our designers take up to 8 months to make a bride’s gown. Then you have to remember things like shipping and time for alterations before your wedding. So, it’s important to plan ahead to give yourself the most options possible. We understand not everyone can plan that far ahead so we ask that at a minimum you come 4-6 months before your wedding date.
Q: What’s your favorite local spot in Orem for any out of town brides traveling in to shop?
Q: Any sage advice you have to help brides find the perfect gown for them?
A: Remember wedding dress shopping is supposed to be a FUN experience NOT a stressful one. Don’t overthink it and go with your gut! You don’t have to go to 100 bridal stores to find the “one”. Here at Frankie Jane we have worked hard to bring the best designers with a wide variety of styles so you don’t have to worry about going anywhere else!
Q: Anything they should think of or come prepared with before coming into the store?
A: Come with an idea of your wedding dress budget as well as any inspo for your dream dress. Remember it’s important to keep an open mind as our stylists are very familiar with the gowns and may have an idea of something that might look best on you that you wouldn’t have thought of. We recommend only bringing the key people that you cannot make this decision without. For some, this may mean shopping alone, for others it may be a couple of loved ones.
We always recommend bringing nude spanx as it helps smooth out the gowns and makes you feel like your best self! If not then a seamless nude thong / underwear are preferred. Most brides end up not wearing a bra, but if you would like to we recommend a strapless bra or pasties. No need to bring heels as we have pedestals you’ll stand on!
